Blues were left to reflect on a shocking night of refereeing decisions that has culminated with the loss of 2 points.

The first half was nothing short of abysmal. The constant stoppages of play for endless amounts of free kicks sucked any life out of the game.

The slowing down wasn’t helped by both sides refusing to show any quality on the ball and the minute long breaks every time Blues were awarded a throw in.

All these factors played into what was arguably the worst half of football that’s we’ve seen this season.

Blues did look a better team in the second half. For all the criticism he gets, Jon Leko deserves credit for his determination to move the ball forwards and get some energy into the game. Whether it payed off or not.

The breakthrough eventually came in the 49th minute. Marc Roberts stood tallest at a corner and placed his header home. Blues took a deserved lead.

Blues had a firm stranglehold on the game for practically the entirety of the second half. There were plenty of chances squandered by Bowyer’s team and we couldn’t put the game to bed.

Forest were seeking an equaliser, bringing on Knockaert, Grabban and 37 year old Glenn Murray in their pursuit of a goal.

The action came late in the match. After two debatable penalty shouts had been previously dismissed, 7 added minuted had now been added on.

Blues kept the game quiet for most of stoppage time. Amari Miller looked a bright spark for Birmingham but that was about all there was to say.

That all changed in the 95th minute when Lukas Jutkiewicz was denied a stonewall penalty after being blatantly tripped up. A goal at that stage would’ve obviously finished the match.

The poor officiating then meant that Forest still had a chance. This chance came in the 98th minute after Juke (who had just been robbed of a penalty) clattered into a forest player and gave away a penalty up the other end.

Despite Neil Etheridge’s best attempts, he couldn’t deny Lewis Grabban’s penalty and Blues had been stolen at St. Andrews.
