Two sides with no pressure will meet on Saturday. Already Safe, Birmingham City will be aiming to continue their late climb up the table, whereas Cardiff (who have missed out on playoffs) will be trying to build serious momentum to start next season with.
Blues Boss, Lee Bowyer has confirmed that there will be some rotation in the last two fixtures. Amari Miller will definitely feature in at least one of the last two, with Lee Bowyer saying he “will look at him from the start of a game.”
Bowyer will also be hoping to avoid any complacency obviously. Blues are on track to achieve their highest finish in 5 seasons, which would be a sensational achievement, considering it seemed that we were facing certain relegation when he was appointed.
Mick McCarthy and his Bluebirds will come to St. Andrews with similar ambitions. They haven’t lost any of their last 4 games and have become very hard to beat since McCarthy took over.
Welsh forward Kieffer Moore has been a pivotal part of this team for a couple of seasons now. He has bagged 4 goals in his last 3 matches, including a brace Vs Wycombe in their most recent fixture.
Aden Flints return from Sheffield Wednesday has also had a big impact, with his aerial dominance being proven on a number of occasions. Meaning he should have a few interesting duels with the likes of Lukas Jutkiewicz and Marc Roberts at set pieces.
Scott Hogan won’t feature for Blues again this season, but Lee Bowyer has said that it’s “only right” to give some of the peripheral players a chance, so expect a few changes.
It is unknown if Cardiff captain, Sean Morrison will feature on Saturday, but he is expected to make an appearance this season.
I think this will be a game where set pieces and dead ball scenarios will be the deciding factor. Two large teams, with fairly direct styles of play usually results to a free kick/ corner duel. I think either team could steal this by a single goal.
