Blues unbeaten start to the season came to an end with a 0-2 defeat against Bournemouth.

The match started very brightly with both sides attacking with serious intent, whilst Blues had the better of the chances, Bournemouth dominated possession.

As the first half grew, Birmingham just got stronger. The quality of football was very impressive and Chances started to open up for Blues.

Bournemouth will have gone into the break very frustrated with their opening period performance, they seemed a shadow of the side they could be.

The Cherries did strengthen in the second half and their class began to show. Blues started to look considerably sloppier in possession and most fans would’ve probably been hoping for a point at around the hour mark.

Ultimately, Bournemouth, who have promotion ambitions this season, did take the lead. A long ball by Ben Pearson was taken on by Dominic Solanke, and Marc Roberts couldn’t stop the powerful striker from finding the net.

Blues seemed to be broken by this goal, and with Bournemouth’s “game management” techniques the match lost all of it’s sting.

Bournemouth doubled their advantage after some shocking Blues defending at a late set piece allowed Anthony to finish the Cherries’ second.

Next up for Blues is an away trip against high scoring Luton Town.
